Monday Mod: Mount & Blade – The Last Days

In Mount&Blade, there is one mod to rule them all. Released in 2007, The Last Days of the Third Age is one of the most popular modifications for the Turkish indie title. With fantasy games and movies back in the limelight (Thanks Skyrim/Game of Thrones) and the mod being recently updated with bug fixes and balance tweaks, there is no better time to check this out for yourself.

Fight for Middle Earth as any faction from The Lord of the Rings universe. Each race such as orcs, elves, humans, etc. have their own racial advantages & disadvantages which combined with multiple factions incentivizes playing multiple times. A faction elimination war system has been made, as power wanes from factions they receive fewer troops and eventually can be destroyed permanently. Factions can regain strength over time or by achieving important victories. For example if Rohan and Gondor fall, Isenguard and Mordor will declare war on each other providing a longer playthrough.

Get to downloading so you re-enact various ways one does simply walk into Mordor, exclaiming “And you have my axe!” to any battle you fight or whatever various memes The Lord of the Rings franchise has now.

Go to moddb.com find the mod there for a good download, if your having issues starting the game they have a link to there forums there as well. you wont get any good help here

  3. Kilwar says:

After you extract the game into the mod folder, you need to use a .exe in the extracted folder called Iron Launcher to start the game, otherwise it won’t work.

I’m having a really hard time playing the mod. I have extracted the file and tried to play it via Iron Launcher, it plays the intro, get to the start screen and crashes with an ” RGL error get wind_flora” . Like wtf is that? I tried to launch it troughs steam as well but it makes no difference. I have scouwered the forums for help and found a manual with FAQ on how to manually upload the files in order to play them but its too complicated for me. Anyone mind helping a fellow gamer.

Add me on steam HanibalJT or e-mail me tellezjoaquin@gmail.com

  7. donk says:

hmm, it has 80K downloads in 7 days, they all love it, but because your too stupid to read the instructions and install it… it is the worst mod.

    Idiot.

  8. donk says:

oh and the devs are apparently going to release the next patch with an installer from what i hear. (though it isn’t a patch rather then a full upgrade with the features they are holding back apparently)

So even a monkey can then install it.

  9. cobra says:

PArtially sucks because it’s a book only based mod that and it’s so damn difficult to make money. The war started and I’m still running around delivering messages because I can’t fight anything.

    • Kilwar says:

If you want to skip the money making, import a character who has money.

      • cobra says:

doesn’t work each faction has it’s own money

        • Kilwar says:

So you have a lot of money with only one faction. It gives you a starting point for men and equipment.

          • cobra says:

No it’s like a standard game of M&B you don’t have a whole lot. The missions you can do are to hard at your level the groups you will face are too many. Since each faction has it’s own money if I go from gondor with 1000 resource points to Rohan I will ahve 0 unless I’ve done work for them.
