Mm, I am holding off in my Skyrim experience until a few patches + community mods + I build my new system.
I played Oblivion in 2006 and originally I could not even finish it. The final battle with the city under attack…I got like 5FPS way back when.
Now, fast forward to having 5x the recommended & Oblivion still runs like crap.(Though with mods can look great.)
Also, it’s not fair to call this the Creation Engine. It’s Gamebryo, people already picked apart it’s internals; it’s the same Engine. Of course they lied to us to get away from the Gamebryo stink; however many remnants are left over.
People with 4 cored systems are finding 20-40% CPU usage, max. So hurrah for no real Multi-core support. GPU’s are being used 20-30% as well. This is when FPS is dipping below 60 as well
Overall, another cluster-fudge by Beth, that modders will have to fix. However, I doubt the modders will code int better multi-core support.
I don’t have Skyrim yet, but I’ve heard that the combat is the same as in Oblivion. If so I say that the Deadly Reflexes mod is a must for Skyrim.

I have to say, the combat is a lot better. Mage is the way to go. Spells are great. You get a lot, there’re really powerful and fun, plus the combos are great and dual-casting feels really good. And I’m sure there will be many more spells in the coming mods.

Got my skyrim yesterday thru pre-order and I gotta say it improves alot since tes iv. Almost every single detail has improved. But never hurt to have these five mods into skyrim and other mods to have – race, weapons, armour, etc.
I find the complaints about skyrim to be pretty childish, its like people were out looking hard to find reasons to bring down the game, its an EPIC game…looks great even though its DX9, i have no issues with it, considering how deep the game is the graphics are still really impressive and out do most linear RPGS out there atm. Im having a lot of fun playing and i find these reviews kinda dumb…Sure it will be nice to have some cool mods like this in the future which is a given but to use small things like this to try and discredit such a great game is pretty lame.
i laugh at the complaints of the textures being “from 10 years ago”.. i’ve seen that complaint rather frequently, and its just laughable.
some of these kids must not’ve played a game from 10 years ago, let alone are they considering the SIZE of skyrim.

hell, many DX10/11 games don’t.. and thats just sad. (exception maybe in Crysis 2 after the DX11 and ultra tex packs. but still.. tunnel runner..)
Maybe you should buy a decent rig first. Or you should play Battlefield 3 and CODM3 and compare their graphic standart with Skyrim. Even my modded Dragon Age Origins looks a lot better than these wishy-washy, bland, boring textures. It’s not even good with nVidia 3D Vision.

My Favorite portable home. Has everything you need. The one for OBSE is great. I use Summon Private Quarters with A Major 7 Imperial furniture to add more containers and stuff and I have the best home. This is a great mod.

I prefer having the option to go skyclad if I so desire – very much more prefered then so called “bikini-chainmail” or “booblikated fullplate mail” mods. Not that I can actually picture much use of it in the ice cold weather, but maybe there is a resort somewhere in the plains?
Remember it’s roleplaying, and what difference does it make what you wear, as long as you think it’s the perfect fit for the role/story?
And do not forget the pains to create a new, and natural looking char in Oblivion.

Skyrim is not Oblivion. And eyecandy models… Are we pervs or Roleplayers? Skyrim has a great clima, don’t know why would You want to change it. Wan’t anime style games? Play them, Skyrim is not for You then.

Technically Skyrim’s Creation engine is actually Gamebryo Lightspeed under the hood the same engine used in the making of New Vegas, which also goes to show how they simply recycled allot of character meshes. I’m more intrigued with how they used Havok for physics, it has come a long way since Oblivion. The only problem with Skyrim at them moment is a laundry list of bugs, which cripples performance and brakes the so called radiant quest system.
It’s sad indeed to see people getting bent out of shape over what others want from the game. The TES series has always been about freedom, giving each individual player the ability to tailor their experience.
The game caters to many different styles of play, includes many races and allows people to develop radically different archetypes.
The construction set allowed the paradigm of freedom and creativity to go even further; it was a total gift at a time when modding was hard and developers were typically more hard nosed about giving away those sorts of tools.
I think it’s sad that people are so quick to judge others for their preferences. Live and let live – do you lust for mono-culture that badly?
Agreed, and yes, it seems many people do lust for a mono-culture, sad as that is. To say the least, it’s a very shortsighted. The ES modding community is incredibly colorful and vibrant ‘because’ there is some measure of freedom still. Besides, if you don’t like the mods someone else has made (that they have made available to everyone else for Free), then why waste your time (and others) crying about it? No one is stopping you from making your own mods XD
I dunno, I agree with the comments above mine that the Male version of Body Enhancers should have been added. I disagree with “Mister God” (nice name loljk) about it being porn. It’s called an enhancer mod, not a jack-off mod.
Unofficial Patches are going to crop up whether people want them or not…not that anyone wouldn’t. Graphical enhancers are sure to follow. Personally, I loved the “Clock of Cyrodiil” mod myself, as well as the small fixes, like enhanced water, sunglare.
I think that the article should have mentioned Qarl’s retexture pack, because he did a fan-fucking-tastic job on Oblivion, and Skyrim already looks pretty good.
Midas Magic was really cool, but again, new spells and the like are point-blank going to show up. Be nice, though, if it could include quests for new spells if they’re god-like.
Also, the idea posted as from “Flamingsora” about a Shout that lets you take the form of a dragon, including flight I love. Imagine, for a moment, that you’re fighting another dragon, and suddenly, you turn into one yourself. Can anyone say, “Epic Battle”? Turn difficulty up to Master, and that would be the single greatest moment of Skyrim. Alduin vs Dragon Form’d Dovahkiin.

Personally i think oblivion’s combat system is the best so far. much better than morrowwind’s where even if you’ve embedded a CLAYMORE into someones spine, it still takes that whole chance to hit thing into account and can say that even though a hit like that in real life would have severed their spinal cord, and spinal column, made a nice hole in their intestines and came out their front side, somehow lo and behold….you missed. As in; did not hit and did no damage. At least oblivion’s combat system is realistic enough that if you have a powerful enough sword, high blade skill or not, you sever someone’s spine graphic with it, they’re dead.
And as for the whole recycled graphics thing. Beth isnt the only one to do this. look at EPIC. The guy on the cover for i think its gears of war, its also the same graphic used for reaper in unreal tournament 3 and also a few of the random bad guys in batman arkham asylum. I guess you could say that character meshes and graphics appear in different games in much the same way that an actor can appear in different movies.
Disappointed with this game the engine is what almost 6 years old, things vanish in game like yr horse while yr on it, people standing submerged in the ground, lots of graphic problems like oblivion did, the game is not worth the $100 you pay for it, finally it looks 6 years old, shame on you Bethesda 4 scamming us.

Only things I liked about Skyrim game wise were:
- Dual wielding and dual casting.
- The new UI minus the hotkeys.
- Dragons I guess this was a no brainer.
- Endless questing (if it actually worked right).

- Crafting
