Tired of having to play diplomat with Montezuma only to see his Aztec empire declare war? Perhaps you’re in need of new civilizations to spice up the game of global conquest. While there are new factions to be purchased, these five nations only require two clicks, small portion of your bandwidth and the destruction of my neighboring city-state, Ferretville. I won’t be mad if you trespass my borders to reach him, seriously.
Kingdom of Kongo (by Cyon): Play as Nazinga Mbande (try pronouncing that) as you lead the Kongo Empire. Your nation’s trait will allow you to ignore terrain costs along rivers and an increase of 20% for building productions in your capital. Your special unit, the Pombo, replaces the Pikeman and ignores terrain movement costs. The Raffia Mill fills the role of the Workshop and provides a small amount of culture, gold and production from jungle tiles.
Byzantine (by Justinian14): Assume the role of Justinian I and control the Byzantine Empire also known as the Eastern Roman Empire during the periods of Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages for those who don’t know their history. The Cataphract overpowers the position the Knight unit holds due to its higher strength value. The Cathedral is the unique building that provides more culture over time and the unique trait is Center of the World: Golden Ages last 30% longer and you gain +1 culture each turn.
The Kingdom of the Isles (by Justinian14): Take command of the fictional nation under the lead of Rodric IV based off a fantasy role-playing group popularized by Raymond E. Fiest. Your unique trait known as Madness won’t let you kick Persians into pits but will grant you +1 production/strategic resources and +10% productions for wonders. The Archer is replaced by the Krondorian Pathfinder and a second unique unit, the Kingdom Warship, replaces the Trireme.
The Dutch (by Justinian14): Play as the overpowered Dutch empire with Willem van Oranje at your back. What I mean by overpowered, is that their Unique Trait called East India Company allows all Dutch sea units to enter rival territory with no penalties. Their specialized unit called the Swiss Mercenary has a combat bonus when fighting in foreign lands and their exclusive structure called the Dike allows for more production than a windmill and an extra engineer slot. Balanced, right?
Native American Civilizations Pack (by Justinian14): For all our Native American buffs, this mod gives you 9 different ancient (ancient is a relative term) Native American races to play as. The Chibchas, Incas, Mapuches, Mayas, Tupis, Zapotecs, Caribbeans and Sioux all have their own unique leaders, traits, units and buildings. None of the unique traits are running your own casino though.
