Wasteland Defense for Fallout: New Vegas is just what the Mojave Wasteland needed. As I’m sure we’ve all done multiple playthroughs of New Vegas by now, it is time to shake up the world that Obsidian Entertainment has given us. Wasteland Defense does that by adding a new meta-game to the title.
In Wasteland Defense the player is able to build and protect their own fortress. Building your own fortress requires the player to acquire plans and with these plans you can construct objects inside your fort. Building my own fort felt similar to a game of SimCity, being able to plop down a building whichever way I pleased. You’ll also be able to purchase guards to help protect your territory. Ranging from Snipers, Robots, and even Scavengers who will pick loot off the dead and salvage their equipment.
The fun begins when you must defend your fortress against wave of raiders. Assaults are randomized, doing their best to attack when your guard is down. This is where the guards you hire, along with their strategic placement comes into play. Lighting is very pivotal to the defense of your Fortress as the shadows can bring unsuspected raiders. To run your lights you need generators to keep churning out power. Be warned as they can be destroyed, crippling your defenses.
Wasteland Defense offers a nice twist to New Vegas, giving more incentive to boot up the game against a list of newly released titles. So if you are looking to break out of the mold and have a different kind of adventure, Wasteland Defense is the modification you are looking for.
mod is broken, water tank spawns in air and cant do anything about it… do not get a control prompt, cannot get access to move the tank at all, cant do anything…. was excited then let down…/cry
you need to hit E to place it, also when placeing the junk fences it wont go away till u press C
You need NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) in order to run this mod properly. That’s why random objects are spawning in the air.

The mod works, its just missing some features it REALLY needs. It DEFINITELY needs a menu that gives a list of commands on how to place things. Placing objects and twisting them around on the X, Y, and Z axis is a very iffy AND a very complicated art.
You also need to be able to set your own waypoints for guards to patrol, I built my fence within the borders of my fort, I know that because of that my guards can’t patrol and will just walk into the fence trying to get out.
I would also VERY much love to be told how to place Assault Rifle and Sniper guards. I have YET to figure that one out.
Just a note, placing objects is a pain and a skilled art. Don’t be frustrated when you can’t get an object perfectly level with the ground and stuff. The Devs did NOT design Fallout with the idea of item placement in mind and frankly I am amazed that this mod even works and that someone thought that they could even accomplish this let alone make it work. This mod somewhat buggy, annoying, and frustrating is VERY well thought out and is loads of fun. See past the bad things and see the good.
Clearly SOMEONE didn’t read the directions when they started playing this… ALL objects start out parallel to the ground EXCEPT walls, which spawn vertically. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to get this working. AR & Sniper guards are ADDED to your inventory when you purchase them, and you place them just like you would any object. Oh, and they too start out parallel to the ground, in case you were wondering. The only half decent suggestion in here in my opinion was that about waypoints for the guards.
The mod requires NVSE to function. That will solve the floating object issue. As for placing stationary guards, they are added to your inventory just like plans. Hold the X key to rotate about the x axis, and the Y key to rotate around the y axis. Most questions are answered in the FAQ included with the mod

Odd, for the sake of being thorough, I confirmed I had NVSE installed (I’m currently patching, so might need a new version after the patch), but I’m certain now, having double checked, I was running NVSE and the item still spawned in the air.
Items will spawn in the air, and after about 3 seconds they will move to your mouse cursor and able to be placed. Make sure you are running the latest NVSE and run the game via nvse_loader.exe
Mod works great. Folks who it doesn’t work for are not doing it right. Just installed it and nvse last night, and was playing immediately.

Alright, so this worked PERFECTLY the first day, no flaws! I managed to build a HUGE fort, got the first 4 quests for it done, then I got off because it was late. The next day, I went to play and couldn’t. My game crashed whilst loading my previous save file. It didn’t list a reason, and has crashed every time since then. I really like this mod, so please! Help me!
